Hi, I’m Marisa Bellovin!
As an Educational Specialist, I take pride in providing a warm and nurturing learning environment for students in Pre-K through 8th grade. My personalized tutoring sessions are carefully crafted to address the unique needs of each student. Whether focusing on reading, writing, mathematics, or overcoming specific learning challenges, children work towards achieving specifics goals developed at the start of our time together. I believe in fostering a holistic approach to learning. From addressing attention and executive function challenges to supporting students with cognitive and emotional issues related to learning, my goal is to empower students to achieve academic success and personal growth. Additionally, I offer stimulating enrichment opportunities for students seeking to expand their knowledge and skills.
With over a decade of experience in education and in the classroom, I bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to my tutoring practice. I have completed training in Preventing Academic Failure, an Orton Gillingham reading remediation program, and The Hochman Writing Method. My educational background includes a Masters Degree in Childhood Education from Hunter College and a Bachelors of Science in Communication from Boston University.
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of teaching at renowned independent schools in Boston and New York City, including The Meadowbrook School of Weston, Beit Rabban Day School, Brooklyn Friends School, and The Windward School. My passion for education and dedication to student success drives my work every day.
I look forward to partnering with you and your child on their educational journey.

We cannot recommend Marisa Bellovin enough! We first had the joy of having Marisa as a teacher in one of our kid’s classrooms and then continued with her as an outside tutor! Marisa is kind, caring, brilliant, so patient and nurturing and finds such an organic way to connect with each child. My children want to meet with her when they don’t have work or anything piled up because they love working with her that much - she brings joy to learning! The results are also remarkable - after just one week of working with one of our kids, the reports from school were incredible. We are so thankful to have Marisa in our kids lives and hope we can pack her up and send her to college with each of them!!!

Marisa Bellovin was my daughter's tutor for 4 years, from 5th through 8th grade. Marisa helped her not only complete her schoolwork but also provide additional, personalized instruction on concepts where she needed reinforcement and plan/edit her secondary school application essays. Not only did Ms. Bellovin's tutoring help ensure my daughter achieved academic success at school, but it also helped her develop study skills and confidence. Plus, having a regular tutor helped to take some of the conflict out of the parent-child relationship around homework. Marisa worked with my daughter's teachers to ensure consistency and aligned expectations, and adapted to her learning style. I would, and have, recommended Marisa Bellovin to many of my friends. She really became part of my daughter’s support team.

What I appreciate most about Marisa is her thoughtful feedback. She connects with my child's teachers and keeps me informed so that we’re all on the same page. She is the glue that helps my child succeed.
