At Marisa Bellovin Tutoring, I specialize in tailoring my services to meet your child's unique needs.

Literacy

I assist emergent, decoding, and fluent readers at all stages of literacy development. With a focus on personalized attention, I create customized reading plans that target key areas such as phonemic awareness, phonics, and reading comprehension. Additionally, I provide comprehensive support in organization, study skills, and writing across various subjects. Students require guided assistance to grasp how to engage with reading material effectively and to compose various types of written pieces, including personal narratives, non-fiction texts, and opinion or persuasive essays.

Mathematics

My primary focus when nurturing a strong foundation in mathematics is emphasizing both number sense and essential skills crucial for computation and problem-solving. I believe in the power of multi-sensory learning, engaging students through hands-on activities and the use of manipulatives to enhance their understanding. I am well-versed in various math programs, including but not limited to Investigations in Number, Data, and Space; Singapore Math, and Go Math! I am committed to supporting students using any program they encounter in school, while supplementing learning with additional materials, games, and resources to enrich their educational experience.

Coaching & Communication

To ensure the best possible outcome for your child, I offer flexibility in communication and support. I am available to attend school meetings upon request and set up phone calls to discuss your child's progress. If necessary, then I encourage parents to open the lines of communication between the child’s school and myself, so I can support and reinforce what is being taught at school. I have had, and continue to have, successful relationships with a range of schools my students attend.

What does a Marisa Bellovin Tutoring session look like?

  1. Free Consultation

To get started, parents schedule a complimentary consultation call with Marisa. During this call, Marisa will discuss your child's academic goals and gain insight into their unique learning style and personality.

2. Initial Intake

Prior to beginning sessions with a new student, I arrange an initial intake meeting. During this meeting, I have the opportunity to meet parents and their child. This gathering allows us to establish rapport and ensure compatibility between us. When requested, I offer diagnostic assessments to better understand your child.

3. Sessions Begin

Each session lasts an hour and is specifically designed for your child. I usually take notes and reflect on each session in order to help plan the subsequent one.
